TEHRAN -- The German Ruhr Theatre will deepen its cultural relations with Iran, as its Director Roberto Ciulli is to direct "Bernard Albas' House", featuring Iranian actors and actresses, at the upcoming International Fajr Festival, the daily *****Neue Ruhr Zeitung***** reported Saturday.

The coproduction between the Ruhr Theater and the Tehran-based Dramatic Arts Center, slated to be staged in Tehran on January 27, is the first of its kind since the 1979 victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The drama, written by Federico Garcia Lorca, is currently being rehearsed by Iranian actors and actresses of various theatre groups.

The German visit is part of an ongoing theatre exchange between Muehlheim and Iran, dating back to 1998 when the Germans staged several plays in Tehran.

An Iranian theatre group performed last September five plays during the "Iran Theatre Landscape Festival" in the west German town of Muehlheim.
