DAMASCUS -- Representatives of four regional nations' labor unions, and the Arab World Labor Union Secretariat attended a gathering here on Monday to voice support for the Iraqi nation in the face of the serious U.S. war threats.

The representative of the labor unions of Iran, Syria, Turkey, and Iraq, as well as a delegation comprised of the Arab nations' labor secretariat, attended the two-day gathering here aimed at voicing support for the Iraqi nation, particularly laborers, faced with the U.S. threats.

The participants emphasized during the opening session of the conference on he need for Arab and Islamic nations' resistance against the U.S. and Zionist plots against their existence.

In their lectures, the regional labor unions' representatives voiced their full support for the Iraqi and Palestinian nations that are entangled with the U.S. and Zionist warmonger regimes' adventurism, as well as their strong objection to a U.S. led attack against Iraq.

The participants asked all regional and international labor unions and workers associations to urge their governments to condemn the U.S. and racist-Zionist governments' threats against the Iraqi and Palestinian nations by staging vast workers' demonstrations.

The Secretary General of the Arab World Labor Union Hassan Jamam said in his opening session address that although Iraq is fully cooperating with the UN and the United Nations' Monitoring, Observation, Verification, and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) has in nearly two months of their inspections found no evidence on existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the U.S. war machine keeps adding pressure against Baghdad.
