MUMBAI -- India’s Kingfisher Airlines Ltd. plans to launch eight new overseas routes and will begin operations on two of these in September.

The carrier will begin two services originating at Mumbai to Singapore and Hong Kong respectively, the airline said in a release.
Both will be operated using Airbus A330-200 aircraft and will be daily direct return services, it said.
The Vijay Mallya-owned airline has also sought regulatory approval to commence operations from New Delhi to London.
It also plans flights to Bangkok and Dubai from New Delhi. From Mumbai, it plans to commence flights to Bangkok, Dubai and Colombo.
“The plan to launch these new services is consistent with our goal of redeploying capacity on routes with better yields as compared to domestic sectors,” said Prakash Mirpuri, vice president, corporate communications.
The airline has, however, decided to suspend flights on its Bangalore-London-Bangalore route and its feeder service on Colombo-Bangalore-Colombo route from Sept. 15, 2009, taking into account booked loads and yields.
