TEHRAN - MP Mohammad-Reza Tabesh of the Majlis minority faction has criticized the parliament’s conservative majority faction for not cooperating with reformist MPs in the investigations into certain post-election incidents.
He said Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani had told him earlier that he would make an effort to pave the way for the release of some of the prisoners arrested during the post-election unrest.Tabesh stated that he would inform Larijani about the reformist MPs’ expectations and grievances.
The majority faction should have acted in a more appropriate manner and should have addressed the people’s concerns, he added.
Tabesh asked why the wrongdoers of the Kahrizak detention center have not been prosecuted yet.
A number of people who held government posts in the past, and some of them have good records, have been interrogated and are still in prison, but the court has still not made rulings in their cases, he added.
Tabesh also said Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani has been in office for some time and should now assume responsibility for the current situation
