TEHRAN – Mohsen Bakhtiar of Iran claimed a gold medal in the 13th Fazza Dubai 2024 ParaPowerlifting World Cup.

Bakhtiar set a new Asian record and won a gold medal in the men's up to 59kg with a 196kg lift.

Brazilian powerlifter Joao France Junior and Aymen Khodja from Algeria claimed silver and bronze medal, respectively.

Fazza 13th Para Powerlifting 2024 World Cup serves as qualification for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

The championships, which started on Wednesday, are being held in Dubai, the UAE until Mar. 6.

The participants who win gold, silver or bronze medals are automatically eligible for the 2024 Paralympics.
