Bushehr province, one of top marine tourism destinations

TEHRAN--Bushehr province, with more than 900 kilometers of coastline along the Persian Gulf, is one of the most important marine tourism destinations in Iran. With its beautiful beaches, historical ports, and marine biodiversity, this province has great potential for developing sustainable marine tourism.
Over 308,000 tourists used marine tourism services in coastal cities of Bushehr province during Nowruz holidays, of whom 223,000 used pleasure boats, 44,000 used jet skis, 24,000 used motorboats, and 15,000 used metal boats, Miras Arya (CHTN) reported.
These figures show the huge enthusiasm of tourists for the province’s marine services. It shows the high potential of this industry in generating jobs and making revenues for local communities.
Further investments in infrastructure, especially the development of hotels, marine terminals, and transportation routes, are essential.
One of the distinctive features of Bushehr is holding the Koocheh (alley) Music Festival in the historical texture of the city, which draws domestic tourists annually. Performing live music in traditional spaces offers visitors a unique and profound experience of southern Iranian culture.
The innovation of holding some of these performances on a ship this year could be a spark for the development of cultural maritime tourism, a combination of music, art, and the maritime atmosphere that is a rare example in the country.
Developing marinas, building coastal hotels, developing traditional accommodations, and creating recreational and cultural centers can help attract tourists and increase long-term stays.
Organizing festivals such as “Koocheh Music” held in the historical texture of Bushehr can increase the cultural appeal of the province. Combining these events with marine performances creates a unique experience for tourists.
Using digital applications and platforms to manage tourist flows, book services online, and provide up-to-date information can improve the tourism experience. For example, developing applications similar to “Check Barcelona” could also be useful in Bushehr.
Holding training courses for tour guides, captains, and marine service personnel can increase the quality of services. This will lead to greater tourist satisfaction and repeat trips.
A new experience can be provided for domestic and foreign tourists by providing services that are appropriate to the local culture. For example, holding cultural events in open spaces, using local costumes, and offering traditional foods can increase the attractiveness of tourism.
Instead of luxury attractions, tourists are looking for natural and local experiences in Bushehr province; something that was also emphasized in the remarks of the Head of Bushehr Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Department, Nasrollah Ebrahimi.
He noted that the beautiful coasts of the Persian Gulf are the most important tourism attractions of Bushehr province, which draw many tourists.
