Street protests are not in synchronization with public demands: Assembly of Experts
TEHRAN – The Assembly of Experts issued a statement on Saturday stating that the unrest in the las few days by number of hooligans and foreign agents accompanied by number of teenagers and young people, who basically have no correct analysis of issues, have robbed the people of safety and peace of mind.
The Assembly said these saboteurs have been implementing the “evil plans of the enemies”, especially the United States and the Zionist regime, against the Islamic Republic.
By insulting religious sanctities and inflicting damages to public and personal properties, they have caused costs for the country and the people, the statement said.
The Assembly of Experts said people surely condemn these acts as their behaviors are not in no way in synchronization with protests against economic hardships faced by the people.
The protests that first started in Tehran’s marketplace in response to the devaluation of national currency rial against foreign currencies some two weeks ago later turned into violence as some violent-minded persons and agents linked to foreign spy services, including the Israeli Mossad, put banks, state buildings, and buses on fire, and killed or injured security forces.
Elsewhere in its statement, the Assembly of Experts said it has always been demanding improvement in people’s livelihood and considered it as the most important issue of the country and asked officials to iron out plan to stabilize the market.
It added that the assembly give assurance to the people that officials, especially the heads of the three branches of government, are making strenuous efforts to remedy the economic problems.
