Araghchi talks with counterparts on recent unrest in Iran

TEHRAN- Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts from Pakistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, India, Turkmenistan, France, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates, briefing them on recent developments in Iran, condemning foreign interference, and emphasizing Iran’s commitment to sovereignty, dialogue, and regional stability.

Araghchi, Pakistani FM discuss developments in Iran and region

Abbas Araghchi and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar exchanged views on the current situation in Iran and broader regional developments. The Pakistani foreign minister voiced hope for the preservation of peace and stability and stressed the importance of restraint and avoiding escalation. Both sides agreed to continue consultations and dialogue on issues of mutual interest.

China reaffirms support for Iran’s sovereignty 

In the phone call initiated by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the two sides discussed bilateral and international issues amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. Araghchi explained that peaceful protests in Iran were diverted into violent riots by trained elements and reaffirmed Iran’s resolve to protect its citizens from Daesh-like terrorism backed by the Israeli regime and the US. He also welcomed China’s stance condemning terrorism and foreign intervention.

Wang Yi underscored the importance of adherence to the UN Charter and international law, warning against a return to an era governed by force. He reiterated China’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and security and said Beijing would continue defending Iran’s legitimate positions in international forums, including the United Nations.

Araghchi briefs Saudi counterpart on recent developments in Iran

Araghchi and Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments. Both sides stressed their determination to strengthen ties across areas of mutual interest.
Araghchi pointed to the two-week protests (Dec. 28,2025 -Jan. 10,2026) in Iran, noting that peaceful economic protests escalated on January 8 and 9 due to the organized involvement of terrorist elements linked to the Israeli regime. He emphasized the need for global condemnation of foreign interference and said Iran would firmly defend its sovereignty by relying on public awareness and national support.
For his part, the Saudi foreign minister expressed concern over regional tensions and highlighted the importance of diplomacy, cooperation, and continued consultations to maintain peace and security.

Cairo expresses concern over recent events in Iran

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Araghchi discussed bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments. Araghchi briefed him on recent incidents in Iran, explaining how foreign-backed elements turned peaceful protests into riots that resulted in the deaths of innocent people.
Araghchi condemned provocative remarks by US officials as blatant interference in Iran’s internal affairs and stressed the Iranian nation’s unity and determination to defend sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

For his part, Abdelatty expressed sympathy concern with the Iranian government and people and underlined the importance of regional cooperation to strengthen stability and security.

Iran, India stress stability

During the call with Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and regional and international issues. Araghchi said peaceful protests in Iran were derailed by foreign-trained terrorist elements and emphasized national unity in confronting sedition and destabilization.

He also condemned interventionist US positions. 

Jaishankar, for his part, stressed the importance of expanding Iran-India relations, maintaining regional stability, and preventing escalation, expressing India’s readiness to cooperate toward these goals.

Araghchi warns of disinformation in talks with Turkmen FM


Araghchi and the Turkmen foreign minister discussed bilateral ties and regional developments, emphasizing the need to follow up on agreements reached by the two presidents and to use existing capacities to expand cooperation.
Araghchi elaborated on recent incidents in Iran and warned about intensified activities of terrorist groups operating under the guise of media and spreading false narratives. The Turkmen foreign minister called for continued efforts to deepen relations between the two countries.

Araghchi calls for condemning foreign interference in call with French FM


In a phone call with his French counterpart, Araghchi discussed bilateral relations, including consular affairs. Referring to the recent protests in Iran, he said foreign-trained terrorists had turned demonstrations into riots and called for condemnation of interventionist actions in the internal affairs of countries.

Araghchi briefs Turkish FM on recent events in Iran

Araghchi and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan exchanged views on the latest regional developments. Araghchi explained how peaceful protests in Iran were driven into violence by foreign-backed elements, resulting in the deaths of a number of Iranian citizens, and shared details about foreign interference and the course of the recent unrest.

Tehran, Abu Dhabi emphasize joint efforts for regional security

In talks with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Araghchi discussed bilateral relations and regional and international developments. He said calm had been restored in Iran through the vigilance of the people and law enforcement forces after terrorist incitement supported by the Zionist regime and the United States.

Araghchi condemned provocative US statements as interference in Iran’s internal affairs and reaffirmed the Iranian people’s determination to defend national sovereignty and security. Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of continued consultations among regional countries and joint efforts to enhance regional stability and security.
