US, Israel have launched environmental war on Iran

TEHRAN - On the eighth day of the illegal war against Iran, the aggressors, the United States and Israel, have put oil storage sites near the metropolises of Tehran and Karaj on fire.

Regrettably, the aggressors have set an oil refinery ablaze in southern Tehran to the extent that its thick clouds of smoke are seen all over the sky in Tehran and nearby cities. This environmental war on Iran started on Saturday night.

Oil storage sites in three parts of Tehran have been put on fire: in the south, northeast, and northwest.

The aggressors are not just in fight against Iran but also against its environment to the detriment of the health of its citizens.

Netanyahu, who dropped about 200,000 tons of explosives on the tiny Gaza enclave in two years and caused a huge environmental catastrophe along with crimes against humanity, this time in cooperation with his mindless friend, Donald Trump, have started a similar campaign against Iran.

It is noteworthy to remember that Netanya is a wanted war criminal by the International Criminal Court (ICC), and his friend Trump is notoriously famous for denial of climate change and has described global warming as a “hoax” invited by the Chinese.

Not feeling satisfied with the massacre of 168 elementary students in a school in Minab in southern Iran and the sinking of an unarmed Iranian frigate - with 180 crew members onboard - that had participated in a friendly drill with the countries bordering the Indian Ocean, these two criminals have turned against medical centers, sports complexes, residential houses, heritage sites and poisoning people through suffocating smoke.

Additionally, nine days into the war against Iran, thousands of tons of debris have been generated.

In starting their unlawful and sudden war against Iran on Feb. 28, they claimed that they want to target Iran’s military capabilities. However, the self-proclaimed human rights defenders have turned against Iranian citizens and environment.

As the war on civilians is an unforgivable crime, the war on environment is also inexcusable.

By putting oil storages on fire, Netanyahu and Trump have not only started a mad war against the Iranian citizens, they have also launched a war on the larger world, as health and environmental problems arising from these oil depots are not limited to national borders.

It has been clearly proven that criminal persons do not also care about the environment. They just think about their own interests.

A report released by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) in Sept. 25 said environmental damage resulting from Netanyahu’s war in the Gaza Strip is harming human health and threatening long-term food and water security.

Trump, with an anti-environment personality, has also withdrawn the U.S. from the 2015 Paris climate agreement. He has done it twice. First in his administration and then in his second administration. He has also reversed all environmental decisions taken by his predecessors Barack Obama and Joe Biden. This shows that like Netanyahu, he is against humanity and environment as well.

As Netanyahu - who is filled with full hatred against those who have expressed dismay over his policies against the Palestinians and occupation of their lands - is ready to do the worst crimes against them, Trump also cares about his pocket and the interests of oil and coal tycoons who financed his presidential campaigns. He labels Obama and Biden who took steps toward renewable energy projects stupid and comically says he favors “clean coal” for use in industries. Only a deceitful Trump can call coal clean, which is scientifically recognized as the most pollutant fossil fuel!

Now the black smoke in Tehran, which is suffocating and frightening, make people feel apocalyptic.

Now, the bloodthirsty Netanyahu and anti-environment Trump have jointly turned against the Iranian people and their fragile environment suffering from decades of illegal sanctions and back-to-back droughts.
