OUAGADOUGOU Burkina Faso's President Blaise Compaor here on Thursday called for expansion of commercial and political relations between Tehran and Ouagadougou.

In a meeting with Hossein Hashemi, heading Iran's parliamentary delegation to the 106th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Compaore hailed Iranian traders' presence in trade fairs in his country.

Switching to Palestinian issue, Compaore said the IPU members are busy passing a resolution to clear the way for the oppressed Palestinians to regain the rights denied them.

He added that Palestinians' lands have been occupied by racist Israelis and the Palestinian nation is under so much pressure and lack any facilities to defend themselves.

Hashemi in return conveyed warm greetings of President Mohammad Khatami to Compaore and expressed satisfaction with growing ties between Iran and Burkina Faso following meetings of Iranian and Burkina Faso's foreign ministers.

He said Iranian parliamentary delegation will do its best to broaden expansion of bilateral ties.

MPs Gholamreza Abdolvand, Seyed Abdollah Hosseini, Iran Nadimi and Shahrbanoo Amani-Angene accompany Hashemi in his visit to Burkina Faso, IRNA said.
