TEHRAN -- Majlis Speaker Mahdi Karrubi said that the Guardian Council has welcomed his proposal regarding a joint meeting with the Majlis Presiding Board. He told IRNA, "We suggested holding a joint meeting with the Guardian Council, which was accepted by them, too." Regarding the validity of a report published in the weekly ***Shoma***, which is the official periodical of the Islamic Coalition Assembly, that had claimed that the GC had opposed such a meeting, he said, "As far as I know, the GC members have welcomed the meeting." Karrubi added, "If something has happened since our agreement, I am not aware of it."

The latest issue of ****Shoma*** reported that the GC was opposed to meeting with the Majlis Presiding Board. The weekly said, "The Majlis speaker was trying to arrange a meeting with the GC members in order to reconsider Majlis bills."
