Iranian designs shine at 2A Asia Architecture Award

TEHRAN – Eight designs produced by Iranian architects are among the winners in different categories at the 2A Asia Architecture Award 2016 (2AAA 2016) in Vienna, the organizers announced last week.

“Saba Apartment” designed by Reza Sayyadian and Sara Kalantari finished first in the Residential (Apartment) category, while “Jey shir” designed by Hamed Moradi Aleshtar received third prize in the same category.

“Mehrshahr Villa” designed by Hooman Balazadeh was presented with the third prize in the Residential (Villa) category. 

In the Interior Architecture section, “This Is Not a Cafe!” by Sanaz Qaem-Maqami and Mojtaba Mazaheri took second prize. “Parsin Dental Clinic” by Moin Jalali, and “Parsmilan” by Babak Tusipur and Babak Nasirabadi also was given second prize in the same section.

“IMPI Office Building” by Mohammad Khavarian took second prize in the Future Projects/Innovative Designs category.

And finally “The Renovation and Restoration Project of Imam Ali Square in Isfahan” designed by Hamid Mirmiran received Special Acknowledgement Mention in the Old and New (Reuse and Adaptation, Renovation, Restoration, Regeneration) category.

The 2016 jury comprised of Wolfgang Tschapeller, Murat Tabanlioglu, Nasrin Seraji, Francoise Fromonot and Hiromi Hosoya decided on the winners for each category in a jury deliberation, which took place in the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

The nominated projects were displayed at the same venue in an exhibition running from October 17 to 22.

Organized by 2A Magazine, the Second 2A Asia Architecture Award was held with the theme: “Innovation Architecture in Asia”.
