TEHRAN- Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister of Iran, has stated that the emergency summit of the leaders of Arab and Islamic nations emphasized the significance of Palestine and the holy Qods as a crucial element for the Islamic world’s unification.

On Sunday night, Amir Abdollahian posted a story on the social media platform Instagram about Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his delegation's trip to attend the urgent summit of the heads of Arab and Islamic nations over the Palestinian issue.

“We left for Riyadh on Saturday along with President Raisi to participate in the emergency meeting of the heads of Islamic and Arab countries,” Amir Abdollahian said.

He went on to say that, since the early days of the Zionist regime’s horrific crimes in Gaza, the president has suggested holding a high-level political meeting in which the leaders of Islamic nations would gather to make decisions collectively in favor of Palestine. This idea would take advantage of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s diplomatic capacity and should be taken into consideration during diplomatic consultations.

He emphasized the establishment of an international court to prosecute and punish the leaders and criminals of the Zionist regime and the United States, the establishment of a special fund for the immediate reconstruction of Gaza, and the large-scale dispatch of convoys carrying humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people from Islamic countries.

Iran’s top diplomat also pointed out that President Raisi, who attended the summit with ten important, operational, and urgent proposals, decided to make a decisive decision for the benefit of the Palestinian nation. These included stopping the killing and genocide in Gaza, lifting the human blockade completely, and cutting off any political and economic relations with the Zionist regime by the Islamic countries.

The Iranian foreign minister reiterated that, as has always been stressed at the highest political levels, the Islamic Republic of Iran views holding a referendum to decide the future of Palestine with the participation of all legitimate Palestinians inside and outside of this land as the primary and permanent solution in accordance with international law.

Amir Abdollahian continued that the senior expert meeting, held in accordance with protocol to prepare the summit’s final statement, was attended by Iran, which expressed its reservations about certain clauses in the statement in a formal note that was sent to the OIC’s Secretariat.

He went on to say that one of the most significant aspects of the extensive preparations for this trip was having bilateral discussions with top officials from Egypt, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Syria, Qatar, Lebanon, and Sudan.

The most recent status of bilateral ties and potential areas for improving them were considered at these sessions, along with developments in Palestine.

'U.S. waged full-fledged war on Gaza; Israel collapsed after October 7'

In a post on his X account late on Sunday, Amir Abdollahian said that Israel crumbled on October 7, when the Palestinian resistance launched a surprise offensive against the regime, and the regime is currently surviving on “U.S. life support.”

“The world is witnessing the full-scale American war against Gaza,” Amir Abdollahian added.

He noted, “The Israeli regime collapsed on Oct. 7 and is now alive on American artificial respiration.”

Referring to a recent phone call with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, the top Iranian official stated, “today is our test day.”

According to him, Cairo plans to open Rafah, which is located on Gaza’s southern border with Egypt, in order to provide water and medication, among other humanitarian supplies, to the people affected by the conflict in the Strip.

In a news interview on Saturday night, he asserted that efforts by Arab and Muslim nations can put a halt to Israel’s ongoing war crimes against the Palestinian people in the beleaguered Gaza Strip.

“The meeting was held tardily. However, we believe that if the leaders of Muslim countries and the general secretaries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League make necessary efforts, we can witness the cessation of war crimes by the Zionist regime at this juncture,” he said.

The summit denounced “the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and the war crimes” and the “barbaric, inhumane and brutal massacres” carried out by the occupying regime against the Palestinian people in the final communiqué.

Additionally, it demanded that the UN Security Council make “a decisive and binding decision” to put an end to the slaughter in Gaza.

On October 7, following Hamas’s Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the usurping entity, Israel launched its brutal war on Gaza which left thousands dead and injured.

Additionally, it has established a complete siege on the coastal sliver, depriving the more than two million Palestinian residents of their water, food, fuel, and power supplies.
