Iran pounds Israel, keeps up attacks on regional U.S. bases overnight

TEHRAN - Iranian Armed Forces seemed to pour more focus into pummeling Israeli sites in the occupied territories on Saturday night and in the early hours of Sunday, but also continued to target U.S. and Israeli assets across the Persian Gulf, and expanded its operation to include the Indian Ocean.

Israel imposes heavy restrictions on the flow of information regarding the impact of Iranian attacks in the occupied territories—a policy it also maintained during the 12-day war. However, unwitting slips by Hebrew media showing the exact moments Iranian missiles hit their targets in Israel, as well as reports by Western journalists deployed to the occupied territories, and a small number of videos that made it to social media indicate that Iran made the night difficult for Israelis, at least those occupying Palestinian lands in Tel Aviv.

Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Army (Artesh) did mention launching new attacks against Israel, but more of their statements focused on novel targets that had not been struck during the 12-day war back in June. Iran hit at least 14 U.S. bases in Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Kuwait by Saturday evening, and continued to pound many of those bases in the following hours, while adding U.S. military installations in Saudi Arabia and Iraq to its list of targets. Iran also appeared to hit the residences of American and Israeli commanders and intelligence agents in the UAE and Bahrain throughout the night, though there has been no official military confirmation.

Inside the occupied terrories, Iran hit several key Israeli military and industrial infrastructure, specifically targeting the military naval base and the warship anchorage located in the port of Haifa. Additional primary objectives included the Ramat David Air Base, the Regime's Ministry of War situated in the Kiryat area, the Beit Shemesh military-industrial complex, and the Ashdod Military Industries Center.

Furthermore, Iran successfully targeted a U.S. MST Class Combat Support Vessel (fuel tanker) in the Indian Ocean, and an MSP Vessel (ammunition carrier) anchored off the UAE.

At least five waves of attacks had been carried out by Iran against the U.S. and Israel by early Sunday morning. Iran carried out 23 waves during the previous confrontation last summer. This time, it took Iranians less than two hours to begin retaliation.
