TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) –- Traditional Iranian cloth and textile weaving is considered as one of the precious arts in Iran. The style of weaving, the textile and its varying patterns have long been highly noted in the history of Iran.
Head of art section at the 11th International Qur’an Exhibition is convinced that Iranian golden cloth dates back to many years ago.
Pointing to the fact that textile weaving is gradually consigned to oblivion with the advent of machine woven textile, Abdolmajid Sharifzadeh added that traditional textile workshops are now being preserved by the Cultural Heritage Organization.
He added that the hand-woven textiles are made with natural silk in beautiful patterns, unique in value in the world.
Several verses of the Holy Qur’an with hand woven textiles are put on display at the exhibit which will run through until the end of Ramadan at the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults on Hejab St.
