TEHRAN – On Wednesday, Hamas Political Bureau chief Khaled Mashaal and his accompanying delegation paid a visit to the shrine of the late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, and met his grandson Seyyed Hassan Khomeini afterwards.

At the meeting, Hassan Khomeini welcomed Mashaal and his delegation and said that the Palestine issue had always been one of the main concerns of Imam Khomeini.

He went on to say that defending Palestine is still one of the unalterable policies of the Islamic Republic, so the Iranian government will remain one of the supporters of the Palestinian nation.

Expressing satisfaction over the victory of Hamas in the recent parliamentary election in Palestine, Hassan Khomeini said that the victory indicated that the Palestinians believe that resistance is the only way to confront the aggression of the Zionist regime.

He praised former Hamas leader Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and other Palestinian martyrs and said that the Hamas victory has had a positive impact on and increased the awareness of other Islamic movements, but has shocked the supporters of the Zionist occupiers of Qods.

Mashaal expressed satisfaction about his visit to the shrine of Imam Khomeini. He said that all of the members of Hamas are the grandchildren of Imam Khomeini, noting that Imam Khomeini’s role in awakening Islamic movements is undeniable.

Expressing gratitude for the support provided to the Palestinian nation by the Iranian nation and government, Mashaal said that both the Palestinian and Iranian nations have proven that they can resist the threats of colonialist powers.
