TEHRAN -- Iranian filmmaker Mehdi Nurbakhsh’s “The Parole” will be competing in the 24th Torino Film Festival, which will be held from November 10 to 18.

Starring Reza Kianian, Majid Moshiri, Mehdi Ahmadi, Negin Sedq-Guya, Jamshid Esmaeilkhani, Shohreh Soltani, Reza Khandan, and Roza Arayesh, “The Parole” (2003) is about a young man from southern Iran who is released on parole after serving a nine-year sentence and who plans to get revenge against his former colleague Sharif.

The movie, which is Nurbakhsh’s debut film, will compete with 12 contenders from France, Italy, Spain, the United States, Japan, China, the Philippines, and Thailand in the Feature Film Competition section, which is only for first or second films (and very rarely third films).

The Feature Film Competition, the festival’s main section, is dedicated to searching out and discovering new talents of contemporary cinema.
