TEHRAN- An official at the Department of Environment announced on Saturday that park rangers arrested a poacher after a five-hour foot chase in the Alamut-e Gharbi district of Qazvin, IRNA reported.

According to Sadroddin Alipour, rangers were dispatched right away after receiving a tip on poaching activity in the area. Once at the scene, the rangers caught the poacher red-handed carrying the body of a wild baby goat, a hunting rifle and some shells.

The case of the offender has been handed over to legal authorities for a follow-up, he added.

Issuing a warning to trespassers/offenders setting foot in the protected areas of the Department of Environment, Alipour said rangers, who patrol the conservation areas round the clock, take firm action against illegal hunters.
