Police sieze over 3 tons of drugs in Iran

TEHRAN – Iran’s police on Friday seized 3.4 tons of drugs from armed smugglers in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

Brigadier General Hossein Rahimi, the provincial police chief, said in one operation the police seized over two tons of drugs following an armed clash with smugglers near the city of Saravan.

In another operation on the same day in Khash County, they arrested three smugglers and seized 900 kilogram of opium, he added.

The police also seized 496 kilograms of opium in Iranshahr country on the same day, Rahimi said.
