World Peace Council, BRICS condemn U.S.-Israeli assaults against Iran

March 3, 2026 - 23:27

TEHRAN – The World Peace Council (WPC), and BRICS Civil Society Council have issued ‎statements denouncing the United States-Israeli attacks on Iran started since Saturday morning.

The WPC statement censuring imperialistic attacks on Iran reads as follows:

Calling themselves the world sheriffs, the imperialists are expanding assassination and death in the Middle East.

They are the only one responsible for the escalation of assaults which aims to violently change the political system in Iran and gain the control of their mineral resources.

Dishonest statements of the U.S. presidents and his Israeli partner is a typical example of schism, self-willed, and fatal measures of powerful governments against a country and its citizens.

The U.S. claims and allegations, while the negotiations were going on in Geneva, were incorrect, pre-determined excuses to dispatch the biggest battle cruisers and military equipment to the region since 2003.

The assault has been planed long ago by the imperialism. The European allies who consider these attacks justified and legitimate are guilty, as well. The war, and the expected retaliatory attacks will have severe consequences for the region, which threatens the outbreak of a pervasive war regional and global war.

The assaults have to be stopped immediately. The U.S. and its allies have violated international rights, as in the past, without any moral or political legitimacy.

The United Nations has turned into a passive observant once more failing to take any decisive and strong stance on these attacks.

The world and the peace lovers should raise their voices against these criminal measures. We urge them to come to streets, hold protests, and call for the end of the war, voicing their solidarity with the Iranians, the only people who have  the right to decide their own destiny.

We want the U.S. military bases to be closed in the region, and the U.S. leaves the Middle East.
Down with imperialism.

The full statement of the BRICS Civil Society Council reads as follows:

On the Condemnation of Attacks by the United States of America and the State of Israel and the Violation of International Humanitarian Law

The BRICS Civil Society Council expresses its deep concern over the recent military developments involving attacks carried out against the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran on February 28, which, according to available reports, resulted in civilian casualties, including children at an educational facility in Minab County. The Council condemns any actions that lead to the loss of innocent civilian lives.

The protection of civilians and the inviolability of civilian objects, particularly educational institutions, constitute fundamental and non-derogable principles of international humanitarian law. Under both customary international law and treaty-based obligations, all parties to armed conflicts are required at all times to observe the principles of distinction between military and civilian targets, proportionality in the use of force, and the obligation to take feasible precautions to avoid or minimize harm to civilian populations.

Should reports regarding the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure be confirmed, such actions may constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law and relevant international legal obligations. The BRICS Civil Society Council therefore calls for the establishment of independent, transparent, and impartial investigative mechanisms to examine the circumstances of this incident and ensure accountability within the framework of international law.
The Council reaffirms the importance of respect for state sovereignty and the prohibition of the use of force in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations. All parties are urged to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation of tensions, and adhere strictly to their international legal commitments.

The protection of human life and dignity must remain above political and military disputes. The BRICS Civil Society Council expresses its solidarity with the families of the victims and emphasizes the necessity of strengthening international mechanisms dedicated to safeguarding fundamental human values.
