    Marivan’s Kalash to become world heritage

A delegation from UNESCO paid a visit to Marivan the same day to take final steps to register the city on the world heritage list for its Kalash. Kalash is a particular lightweight and breathable footwear made of natural cotton and leather. The mostly white colored shoes are frequently worn by youth and seniors equally.     Giveh, comfortable yet durable traditional shoe

    Craftspeople in the west-central city of Senjan, Markazi province, are making pairs of “giveh” - traditional handwoven shoe. In the old days, giveh was worn by most people in Iran, especially in rural and mountainous areas.
