He told IRNA that the international fee for shipment of goods via marine routes is subject to many factors, adding that the world trade situation leaves a great effect on the revenue gained from transportation of goods.
Dajmar said that currently IRISL and its affiliated companies own more than 120 vessels, adding that they have the capacity to transport 3.8 million tons of goods.
"At the beginning of the Five-Year Fourth Development Plan (2005-2010), the average lifespan of the specified vessels was 16.5 years, but it is expected to drop to 14.5 years at the end of the plan," he added.
According to the plan, the capacity should increase to 5.5 million tons in 2010, he predicted.
"Based on IRISL's plan to add a number of containers to its transportation network by 2008, its capacity on the national level will increase three times," he concluded.
