Ramot junction shooting in al-Quds leaves multiple casualties

September 8, 2025 - 14:20

A deadly shooting at the Ramot settlement junction in occupied East Jerusalem (al-Quds) left at least six Israeli settlers dead and more than a dozen injured after two gunmen reportedly boarded a bus and opened fire during the morning rush hour.

Israeli forces sealed roads around Jerusalem and converged on the area, marking the most serious attack in the city since 2023.

Ramot, an illegal settlement under international law, is built on occupied Palestinian land just north of the Green Line, where relentless expansion has carved up communities, seized vital resources, and further eroded the territorial integrity needed for a viable Palestinian state.

Israeli reports indicate the assailants came from the West Bank near Ramallah.

Hamas praised the operation as a “natural response” to Israel’s war in Gaza, while the Al-Quds Brigades echoed that it was a “legitimate response” to the occupation’s ongoing crimes — underscoring how daily realities under Israeli rule continue to fuel spiraling violence.
