At least 51 Palestinians were killed on Saturday, including 43 in Gaza City, as Israeli forces intensified their assault on the besieged enclave.

According to Al Jazeera, among the dead were at least two children in a school-turned-shelter west of the city, where survivors described scenes of fire and chaos.

“We found the tent on fire, with many dead, including children and women,” said Ibrahim Arheem, a boy who survived the strike. “There was no medical assistance or anything. We had to carry them on stretchers to the Red Crescent Hospital.”

Another deadly attack struck Gaza City’s Tuffah neighborhood, where a drone strike killed at least six people, according to the Wafa news agency.

The Palestinian Civil Defense says nearly half of Gaza City’s population—about 450,000 people—has fled since Israel launched its major operation there in August.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned Gaza is experiencing the “worst level of death and destruction” he has seen in his lifetime, urging the international community not to be “intimidated.”

Since October 2023, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 65,141 Palestinians and wounded 165,925, while thousands remain buried under rubble.
