TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki has called on Islamic states to protest against desecration of Islamic figures in the West.

“Unfortunately the passivity of some Islamic counties has given the West the opportunity for these organized attacks while Islamic nations have the ability to defend Islamic values,” Mottaki told OIC Secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu in New York on Friday.
Ihsanoglu criticized the Western states for promoting anti-Islamification. “The Westerners under the pretext that they are afraid of Islam justify insulting Islamic figures, while Muslims respect all religions.”
Mottaki is in New York to attend the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting.
