55 million Iranians qualified to vote in May elections

TEHRAN – The Interior Ministry has said that nearly 55 million people are qualified to vote in the May presidential elections.

Deputy Interior Minister Ali-Asqar Ahmadi said on Sunday that voters can cast their ballots in 55,000 polling stations.

He also called on the country’s officials and election administrators to provide the necessary conditions for a huge turnout.

Presidential elections are scheduled to be held on 19 May. This will be the twelfth presidential election in the country since the 1979 revolution.
