Iran, Iraq to form border task force

TEHRAN - Iranian Deputy Interior Minister Hossein Zolfaghari and Kazem al-Eqabi, head of the Iraqi Border Crossing Body, agreed on Sunday to form a joint task force on common borders.

Zolfaghari and Eqabi agreed to develop infrastructure in border areas to reduce crime.

Zolfaghari said, “We have had good cooperation in managing border checkpoints and many issues about borders can be resolved.”

He highlighted the importance of cooperation in areas of security, fight against organized crime, security of borders and the Arbaeen march.

Elsewhere, he pointed to President Hassan Rouhani’s visit to Iraq in March and said that decisions taken during that visit should be implemented.
