Natanz handicrafts exhibition opens

TEHRAN -- Handicrafts exhibition of entrepreneurial women opened in Natanz, Isfahan province, on Wednesday.

According to Miras Aria, Hajar Sharifi, head of Natanz Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Department, said that a collection of products and handicrafts of artistic, capable and entrepreneurial women of the county and souvenirs were displayed in the exhibition.

She added that the exhibition can promote and improve the business environment of entrepreneurial women to strengthen and support the handicrafts and products produced by them. 

On the sidelines of the program, a permanent bazaar and exhibition of women of the county will be held with the efforts of the municipality, she pointed out.

Sharifi emphasized: “More than 20 artists in various fields of handicrafts and souvenirs have participated in this exhibition, and the main goal of holding this exhibition is to show the city's capacity in this field and help the artists' sales market. The general public and those interested are invited to visit this exhibition.”

One of the industries in downtown Natanz is ceramic, which is still manually processed. The antiquity of traditional pottery and pottery processing in Natanz dates back to 700 years ago, and some traditional workshops still operate today.

Spinning and Kilim weaving is another handicraft of Natanz region, the second of which is still common in the villages and its products are sent to Kashan carpet market.
