TEHRAN -- Following serial thefts of bronze statues in Tehran, the municipal authorities of the capital found on Monday that a bust of Avicenna has also been stolen.

The statue had been located in Behjatabad Park in the Karim Khan Zand neighborhood, the Persian service of the Fars News Agency reported.
Over the past week, nine bronze statues were reported stolen from the urban environments of Tehran.
Busts of two leaders of the Iranian Constitutional Movement, Sattar Kahn on Sattar Khan Street and Baqer Khan on Shahr-Ara Street, and busts of Iranian intellectual revolutionary Ali Shariati at Shariati Park and Persian lexicographer Mohammad Moin on Ostad Moin Boulevard are among the heisted sculptures.
Tehran Municipality’s Statue Office announced on Sunday that has stopped installation of new bronze statues due to theft panic.
Office director Mojtaba Musavi believes that most of the statues were stolen during the Noruz holidays from March 21 to April 2.
However, the bust of Moin had been installed at its location less than a month ago.
Tehran Municipality’s Statue Office has filed a lawsuit against the culprits.
Tehran Municipality’s Beautification Organization announced on Sunday that the theft of one of the busts was recorded by a traffic surveillance system camera located nearby.
In addition, Tehran Police Chief Hossein Sajedinia said on Sunday that investigation by Tehran police has resulted in a positive outcome, which will be announced soon.
